Requirements |
- Ability to undertake repetitive physical work outdoors in all kinds of weather (rain, wind, heat and cold!) for several hours at a time - Demonstrated interest in organic farming or gardening and local food security - Previous hands-on gardening, farming, landscaping or related exp. preferred - Ability to work with and support a diverse group of volunteers, coop members, and visitors to the farm - Ability to stay on task while working alone and willingness to collaborate on tasks with others - Must be a student or youth up to age 30 to comply with wage subsidy program requirements |
Duties and Responsibilities |
- Working with a team of staff and volunteers in the operation of an organic farm growing a range of vegetables, herbs, blueberries and fruits - Planting, weeding, harvesting, processing vegetables, herbs, berries and fruits - Operating small farm equipment (training provided) - Assisting with programs for school students on the farm - Serving farm stand customers, assisting farm stand volunteers - Preparation, set up and selling at our weekly Farmer’s Market - Clean up and care for tools, equipment and all supplies |

Work outdoors with a positive team of passionate people! - Blueberry Commons Farm Cooperative located in Tla’amin territory (Powell River, BC) is seeking a Farm Assistant for the current farm season - We are on 16 acres of beautiful land with a mix of forest, field and meadow - We have two acres of vegetable production, an acre of blueberries, many fruit trees, a herb garden, and two greenhouses - We market our produce through a U-Pick, farm gate sales, farmer’s markets and sales to local retailers - We are Certified Organic and are going into our fifth year of operation - In addition to the farm, we are developing a multi-generational cohousing project on a lot next to the farm |
