Requirements

- Driver’s licence required.
We are looking for a skilled and energetic person to join our innovative team. The position will run full time from January 30th to July 31st 2018 at a rate between $130- $250 per day based on experience and the nature of the tasks.
The Ideal candidates with have experience and qualifications In some of the following:
- Risk assessment and decision making
- Wilderness First Aid (80+hr)
- Class 4 driver's license
- Academic focus on leadership, tourism, rec management, field science or education
- Kayaking, canoeing, SUP,sailing,rock climbing, hiking
- Strong practical and theoretica l understanding of Outdoor, Sustainability, Environmental and Experiential learning
- Exceptional organizational skills

Duties and Responsibilities

The Outdoor Learning Programs Coordinator will play and supportive but integral role in the planning, organization and delivery of educational programs including the Coast Mountain Academy and LEAP. As a part of School District 47 (Powell River BC) we are dedicated to providing students with exceptional learning opportunities that help them to better understand themselves within greater cultural and ecological milieus. In doing so, we hope that our students will become spirited citizens and ambassadors of their passion. We focus on providing students the necessary skills to more deeply engage with the world. We facilitate opportunities for students to reflect on their personal choices and to explore the relationships between societies, economy, culture and the environment.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Preparation and instruction of outdoor activities for various age groups
- Coordinating programs ranging in length from 1-10 days
- Monitoring the safety and well-being of all participants
- Preparation and organization of assigned program areas for which the coordinator becomes the activity head
(determined in consultation with Education Coordinator)
- Ensuring proper use, storage, inventory and maintenance of all program resources and equipment
- Ensuring gold-standards in experiential learning
